GENERAL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

A GMC meeting held on Monday 16th April requested that members be reminded/advised of the following:

• Squash court 2 will be out of use for two weeks from 30th April as the floor and front wall are being replaced/refurbished.  Courts 1 and 3 will also be out of use for the odd day or two whilst their walls are patched.
• Members who have not yet renewed their membership need to do so by the end of April to benefit from the prompt renewal discount.  Renewal fees can be found in the AGM Reports which are in the Members Section under Club Information.
• Minutes of the meetings of the GMC, Tennis Committee and Squash Committee will, in future, be posted on the website within two weeks of the meeting.  They will be placed in the Members Section under Club Information.

FREE TENNIS COACHING CLINIC

Head Coach Neil Darragh and his team invited members to a free tennis coaching clinic on Saturday 31^st March and 40 children and 14 adults attended on the day. In the junior event, there were children from the age of 4 to 14, with prizes for highest rally, fastest serve and hit the target competitions

In the adult event, there was a good mixture of day members, full members and prospective members. The participants were given a clinic on ground stroke fundamentals, followed by 15 minute ‘mini clinics’ where each group took it in turns to have a go with each coach on forehand and backhand ground strokes, volleys and serve, as well as tennis fitness drills.

Club correspondent and GMC member, Mike Henderson commented “Many thanks to the coaching team for this free adult coaching session. It was a great success judging by the number of adults attending-and there seemed to be hundreds of children leaving the junior session! There was good mix of day members, normal members and potential new members and hopefully the session can be repeated before too long”.

HEALTHY CROWDS WITNESS TOURNAMENT ACTION

Friday 9^th December saw the conclusion of the annual Squash and Racketball Handicap Tournament.
